What is ABSA Currie Cup Desktop Connect?

ABSA Currie Cup Desktop Connect is a completely FREE desktop application that streams all the latest Currie Cup news straight through to your desktop.
News is pulled from all rugby sources on the web.
The application can be opened or closed at anytime and can be re-set via the options tab within the application.

How do the mascots appear on screen?

Once the application has been downloaded, one of the mascots will appear and present you with the application.
The mascots will then reappear depending on how you have set up your options tab within the application.
To bring the mascosts out again, right click on the ABSA icon in your systems tray on a PC or doc on a Mac and select “showtime”.

How do I close the application?

PC
To close the application simply right click on the ABSA icon (in your system tray) and select 'Exit' and the application will close.

MAC
To close the application on your desktop, hold down the cursor on the icon (in your doc) and choose 'Quit' and the application will close.

What happens once I have downloaded ABSA Currie Cup Desktop Connect?

Your mascot will appear to present the latest currie cup news and will then disappear. How often your mascot returns is dependant on how you set your options.
For example if you set your options for your mascot to present the news every 5 minutes, it will appear on your screen every 5 minutes.

Who can use ABSA Currie Cup Desktop Connect?

To use ABSA Currie Cup Desktop Connect and enable your mascot to walk out onto your screen, your computer needs to be able to run the latest version of Adobe AIR, for which Adobe provides versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux.

Why can't I see the news, fixtures etc?

If you are not connected to the internet then you will not be able to access this information.

How is the information streamed to my computer?

All content for your application is streamed via HTTP. The same as viewing web pages through your browser.

Why do I get an update box each week?

This box ensures you have the latest version of the ABSA Currie Cup Desktop Connect. Make sure you keep it up to date to enjoy the new and exciting features we will be introducing during the tournament.
